Latest EPL Results: Manchester United stays top of EPL table

Manchester United stays top of the Premier League table after a sparkling display to beat 10-man West Bromwich Albion 5-0.  They go three points clear atop the Premier League.

First half goals were contributed by Dimitar Berbatov and Carlos Tevez.  Second half saw a goal from Nemanja Vidic and two from Cristiano Ronaldo.  This EPL results earn the  Red Devils a sixth successive league win.  The victory increases the pressure on Liverpool, who plays Wigan on Wednesday.

United were bolstered by the return of central defender Rio Ferdinand after missing 11-game with a back complaint. Midfielder Park Ji-Sung was also back in the starting line-up after a hamstring injury. With this EPL results, United’s win made it a record-breaking 11 clean-sheet.  They have not conceded in the EPL fixtures since November 8.  Manchester United’s 38-year-old goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar also broke Petr Cech and Chelsea’s previous record, by going 1,025 minutes unbeaten.

Dimitar Berbatov opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, before West Brom acting skipper Paul Robinson was then controversially sent-off for a challenge on Park Ji-Sung.Carlos Tevez extended the lead a minute before half-time after Scott Carson had dropped a free-kick.  Carson failed to hold onto an in-swinging Ryan Giggs free-kick and a grateful Tevez smashed the loose ball into the roof of the net.

Any chance of a West Brom comeback was ended on the hour-mark when Nemanja Vidic grabbed the third goal.  Giggs floated the ball into the near post and Vidic was quick to connect with a fierce header which Carson could only help into the roof of the net.  United wrapped up the victory with a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo on the 65th and 73th minnutes.
