EPL Fixtures (18-19 Aug) and selected mid-week results
The mid week matches saw some disappointing results. Top-4 prospect Tottenham Hotspur ended with another loss, while defending champion Manchester United was held to a draw and can manage 2 points from 2 matches while the other title rivals Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Everton all got a good start.

Portsmouth 1 - Manchester United 1
RED is the day for Cristiano Ronaldo and new Portsmouth signing Sulley Muntari. Portsmouth managed to steal a point fromManchester United on its home ground. The champions took the lead via a Paul Scholes goal. United debutant Carlos Tevez provided the assist. Tevez was the replacement for the injured Rooney. Portsmouth leveled the score through Mwaruwari Benjani in the 53rd minute .
United will next face City in the Manchester derby, while Portsmouth will face Bolton at home. The new-look Manchester City looks good to strike victory, now that they have a new Thais owner. United will be without another ‘R’ Ronaldo after his 3 match-ban. Rooney will be nursing his injuries for 2 months.
Reading 1 - Chelsea 2
Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba took Chelsea further up the tables after winning at Reading. Both add to the scoresheet shortly after half-time to complete a fine comeback win. Reading took the lead through Andre Bikey. He capitalised on a mistake by Petr Cech earlier.
This Sunday will see Chelsea travel to face Liverpool at Anfield. Reading will host Everton in another match.
Man City 1 - Derby County 0
Manchester City maintained their dream start to the season with a 1-0 victory over newly promoted Derby County at the City of Manchester Stadium. Young Michael Johnson scored a great goal. This was also his first professional goal.
City will try to continue their winnng run this weekend by playing host to Manchester United. Derby travels to Tottenham this weekend. Tottenham will be trying to redeem themselves after successive losses.
Birmingham 2 - Sunderland 2
The 2 Premiership new-boys battled out an exciting draw A late equaliser in 90th minutes from super-sub Stern John ensured Sunderland continued their fortune under the leadership of ex-United player Roy Keanne.
More action can be expected this weekend.
